A winding path to this work.
I grew up in the UK and completed my undergraduate studies at Imperial College, London. I then spent fifteen years in a high-pressure corporate environment before moving to the United States and earning my MSW at the University of Southern California.
For a decade I've treated adults in clinics, in VA settings, and over telehealth for anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and the cost of doing a hard job well for a long time. A good share of that work has been with veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders: combat-related PTSD, complex trauma, moral injury, suicidality, and the particular weight of coming home. I have advanced training in Beckian CBT combined with REBT (following Beck and Ellis) and in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT, following Weissman, Markowitz, and Klerman). I'm licensed to practice in Texas, Pennsylvania, and California.
The corporate years matter, too. Many of the people I work with look successful on the outside but feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck on the inside. I understand that world. I know what it feels like to keep pushing through when part of you quietly wants to stop.
I should also say, plainly, that I'm British, and in my work at the VA I've found that to be something of an advantage. Let's be honest. British people are not exactly famous for spilling our feelings. If talking openly feels unnatural to you, that's okay. I'm used to it. You won't get judgment or a wall of therapist-speak here. Just a thoughtful space to be honest, reflect, and grow.
Therapy, done well, isn't about getting advice from someone who has it all figured out. It's about having a quiet, careful space to think things through with someone who takes your particular life, and your particular history, seriously. That's what I try to offer.
